Maroun Blance
The process I inhabit and express is avant-garde. It contains two mediums.
The first is illusion.
For me, it’s the spontaneous release of surreal imagery onto the pages of my sketchbooks — drawings not meant for everyone, where only I can fully understand the meaning and the image, something entirely personal. Later, through reflection and emotion, I choose a sketch that resonates deeply, build a context around it, and turn it into a symbol.
The second medium is provocation.
It includes deliberately performative behavior in public that doesn’t aim to carry depth — it’s a dance, a game, a kind of intentional awkwardness.
