Maryia Kheravets
Artist and sketcher capturing the city and the road
For me, sketching is a way to hold on to moments — a kind of diary of my wanderings and travels. My pages most often capture Batumi, where I live, along with landmarks and scenes collected across different countries, dated like journal entries, as well as quick sketches of friends and home.
I used to work on a larger scale, fitting several miniatures onto a single A4 sheet. Over time I moved to a smaller sketchbook but kept the idea of working in miniatures. I draw mostly with a fineliner — it’s light and easy to carry anywhere — and let colour slip in only now and then.
